James Rasmussen retired from the world of biotech in 2003 to become a full-time artist. He was mentored by several professional artists/painters as he began his new profession. He studied the basics of oil painting with Evelina Brozgul including the traditional methods of glazing. Subsequently he took private lessons for two years with Gary David Hoffman, who was a student of R.H. Ives Gammell. From Hoffman he learned the method of direct painting as practiced by painters of the Boston School of Painting. Further studies took place with Tom Dunlay, another student of Mr. Gammell. James Rasmussen genres include landscapes, portraits and still lifes painted in the style of the Boston School. His oil and watercolor paintings attempt to capture the natural beauty of the world. He works primarily outdoors, but maintains a studio at the Inscape Art building in Seattle. Make It
